Currently Head Professional at Mentmore Golf & Country Club, Leighton Buzzard, Alistair Halliday is a PGA Advanced Professional.
Alistair turned Professional in 1980 after a successful amateur career with tournament victories at county and national level. After becoming a Fully Qualified PGA in 1984 he began specialising in coaching which lead to a position at Kennemer Golf & Country club in Holland, the then host to the European Tour’s Dutch Open, where he quickly established a reputation as a forward thinking instructor with clients including national amateur champions both men and woman. His next position was in Bolzano, Italy where he became Head Professional at Carezza Golf Club, a newly established club, which provided a fresh challenge coaching almost entirely beginner level players. Within three years he had established a thriving and respected academy drawing in players of all standards from the region including fellow professionals.
On returning to Britain he was appointed Director of Golf at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Centre heading the Golf School founded by world-renowned coach Jim Flick. In 2000 he joined the David Leadbetter Golf Academy training under David at Champions Gate in Florida before working at his Austrian based Academy. Alistair passed through the certification process in 2001 and became a Senior Instructor in Britain the following year. He has worked as a PGA Tutor and has regularly contributed to Golf Monthly and has had articles published in Today’s Golfer and Golf Pages. In 2004 he began coaching at Mentmore.
